IHRO launched the first Elbarde Religious Leaders’ Platform for Promoting Human Rights, Specially the Rights of Women, Youth, and Children. The platform brought together 25 influential religion leaders from each district to underline the critical role they can play the fulfillment of women, youth and child rights and also to harness district solidarity towards a brighter future for all women, youth and children in the district. Participants were contributed their experiences and opinions about cultural practice which hinders community development and as well religious leaders lectured about Islam and human rights and rights of women, youth and children that need to be practiced through behavior change from the bad cultural practice.
Despite some improvement had been made for women, youth and child rights; massive disparities still exist preventing them live in dignity, and reaching their full potential and making choices about their futures. With religious leaders in each district having extensive network and moral to influence through the district; their potential to tackle challenges face women, youth and children and achieve real results for women, youth and children is highly advantageous for the community.
