Establishing societal inequality platform for different community groups and as well the local authority reduces cultural practice of inequality, and addressing promotion of the rights of women, youth and children is critical. Societal inequality platform on “women, youth and child rights” was launched in Berdale, Dinsor, and Elbarde districts of Southwest State of Somalia, and it is the first time to establish such platform in the districts.
It is the first platform for a three districts of Southwest State to be established such platforms organized and facilitated by IHRO under DHRR project fund supported by DIAKONIA. This platform is founded on the belief that different community actors and the government/local administration are important in reducing cultural practices that promote inequality. The key actors discuss and understand the impact of cultural practice of inequality and expand the engagement of the community groups the way to promote human rights and reduce inequality.
